Vaishali and Neel, Southern Palms Beach Resort, Kenya

Hosted on the shores of Mombasa, this couple’s phera ceremony looked stunning against the Indian Ocean.

What began as a friendship in high school eventually blossomed into a love story that spanned continents before leading Vaishali and Neel to Mombasa, Kenya, for a wedding that was deeply personal to them. Beautifully captured by WeddingSutra Favoite – Clicksunlimited Photography, every celebration reflected their journey while preserving the warmth, traditions and emotions shared with their loved ones.

How They Met
Vaishali and Neel first met in high school, where they were part of the same group of friends. After graduation, their paths diverged, with Vaishali moving to Canada and Neel to the United States for university. Despite the distance, their friend group stayed close through reunions and annual trips. It was during one of these trips that their friendship gradually turned into something more. Soon after, in Montreal, Neel asked Vaishali out, marking the beginning of a relationship that would take them across countries, through years of long-distance, and eventually to a proposal in Morocco.

Their journey came full circle with a destination wedding in Mombasa, a place that held special meaning for Vaishali and her family.

Wedding Planning
For Vaishali, returning to Mombasa for the wedding was a natural choice. Born there, with generations of her family also calling the city home, it was a destination filled with childhood memories and family traditions. The celebrations stayed true to their Gujarati roots, with every ceremony following traditional customs. The décor and themes for each event were thoughtfully chosen by their parents, reflecting the coming together of two families and the significance of the occasion.

Speaking about the experience, the couple shares, “Clicksunlimited Photography was more than just a team; they became a part of our journey. They captured every emotion beautifully while making us laugh through the entire experience. They never felt like vendors, they felt like family. From the quiet moments to the biggest celebrations, they were there through it all, giving us memories we’ll treasure forever.”

Wedding Functions
Wedding
Set against the shores of Mombasa, the wedding embraced a classic and elegant aesthetic. The bride’s entrance beneath a traditional phoolon ki chaadar was followed by a ceremony that honoured Gujarati traditions in a peaceful ocean side setting. The mandap featured an ivory framework with delicate lattice detailing, complemented by soft arrangements of blush pink, white and ivory flowers. Floral-lined aisles led to the ceremony space, while the ocean formed a simple yet striking backdrop, allowing the rituals and the couple to remain at the centre of the celebration.

Advice For Couples
The bride shares, “Embrace the planning journey and enjoy every high and low along the way, even the disagreements, because those moments are temporary. Don’t stress over the little details and stay flexible, as plans can change unexpectedly. Most importantly, cherish your time as a bride; it is one of the most special phases of your life.”
